PULAU PINANG HARAM TANDA PUTERA

Tentu kerajaan Pulau Pinang suka.

Penang government requests cinema operators not to screen
Tanda Putera

Lim Guan Eng.
GEORGE TOWN: The Penang government have requested all cinema operators in the state to not screen the controversial movie Tanda Putera.

Penang Chief Minister Lim Guan Eng said on Wednesday the movie is scheduled to be screen on Thursday (Aug 29) and claimed that there are slanderous scenes that could provoke racial hatred.

He added that the state regrets that the Communications and Multimedia Ministry has allowed the screening of the film without removing some scenes.

Lim said that in the movie, a few Chinese youth were shown to be peeing in the compound of the then Selangor Mentri Besar’s residence as well as on a Malaysian flag.

“The director herself said those incidents didn’t happen but she added them to make the film more interesting.

“She used the words “creative license” but it doesn’t give you the license to lie,” he said in a press conference at his office in Komtar here.

State Local Government, Traffic Management and Flood Mitigation Committee chairman Chow Kon Yeow said the local councils issue licenses to all cinemas but do not have power over the contents of the film.

However, in view of the sensitivity of the film, he said the Penang Municipal Council and Seberang Prai Municipal Council would issue letters today to all cinemas and request them not to screen the film.
